How To MAXIMIZE On DK Metcalf | Episode 71
Wednesday Sep 24, 2025
Wednesday Sep 24, 2025
DK Metcalf's performance has fallen short of WR1 expectations, with just 10 catches on 17 targets for 135 yards and 2 touchdowns this season. Averaging only 3 receptions per game while earning $33 million is not acceptable, and trailing Jaylen Warren in both catches and yards raises questions. The offensive line struggles are contributing to his underwhelming stats, as the inability to run the ball has allowed defenses to sit back in a two-high shell, stifling deep shots and play-action opportunities. To make matters worse, the offensive schematics haven’t been effective; other teams find creative ways to get their playmakers involved, while Metcalf and the Steelers offense seem stagnant. He needs to do a better job getting open, especially against physical defenses like the Patriots. With four drops already this season, it’s time for Metcalf to step up and return to the explosive playmaker we saw in week one. The Steelers need him to get going to turn the tide in their favor.Roman Wilson's season has been far from impressive, with limited involvement in the Steelers' offensive game plan. After just 10 snaps in Week 1, 21 in Week 2, and a mere 9 in Week 3, he has managed only a single catch on two targets, totaling just 7 yards. His struggles extend beyond the passing game; his blocking in the run game has also been subpar. What started as a promising preseason has quickly turned into a realization that the Steelers don’t seem to trust him on the field—making it tough for Wilson to carve out a role as the sixth option behind the likes of D.K., Warren, CAIII, Jonnu, and Muth. In fact, his situation mirrors that of other lesser-known receivers like Skoronek and Scotty Miller. With discussions surfacing about acquiring another wide receiver, it seems the Steelers may be moving on from Wilson as they search for solutions.Jaylen Warren's usage rate is currently at 52% through the first three games, a figure that may need to be reduced for him to maintain peak effectiveness. We saw a pivotal moment during the Patriots game when Warren, fresh on that final drive, showcased his potential. However, there's a concern: with an increased touch count, Warren has previously struggled with ball security, raising questions about whether he can be viewed as a TRUE RB1. Despite these challenges, he has emerged as the Steelers' most effective offensive weapon. Over the past couple of weeks, it's hard to imagine the team moving the ball at all without his contributions. Warren has been a playmaker, creating opportunities behind a still-struggling offensive line, and he currently leads the team in both catches and receiving yards. For the Steelers to reach their full potential, adjustments will be essential—both for the team and for Warren's utilization.Nick Herbig's snap count needs a serious increase. With Alex Highsmith’s injury history, it's crucial to maintain a balanced 50/50 split in reps when he returns, or even lean more on Herbig to give T.J. Watt some breathing room. Herbig has consistently shown he can make plays, boasting 9.5 sacks in his limited time on the field. While he faced criticism early in his career for being a liability against the run, his performance this season indicates significant improvement, and he’s trending in the right direction. However, injury concerns linger for both players. Highsmith’s ability to stay healthy remains a major factor since the Steelers would have to consider cutting ties if he can’t prove his reliability. While a trade for Highsmith before the deadline has been brought up, it’s unlikely unless the Steelers find themselves in a specific position. His contract could save the team $14.5 million in 2026, but when he's healthy, Highsmith is undoubtedly a valuable asset. Balancing the roster will be key, and tough decisions may lie ahead. We ARE...Steelers Almighty!!!__________________________Ways to Support Steelers Almighty: 🛍️ BIG Merch | https://steelersalmightyshop.com/ 🛍️🚨 Become an Almighty! The Steelers Should Fill THIS Hole Before All Others | Episode 70
Wednesday Sep 17, 2025
Wednesday Sep 17, 2025
The Keeanu Benton experiment at nose tackle has officially reached a turning point. We dive into why his 309-pound frame fails to meet the demands of an NFL nose tackle position, especially when we have bigger, more suitable options like Yaya Black available. The Steelers’ run defense continues to struggle, surrendering an alarming 149.5 yards per game, ranking 28th in the league, along with 4.4 yards per carry, which places them at 22nd. While it's not typical to expect many stats from a nose tackle, Benton's performance has been underwhelming, with only three tackles across two games. It’s essential to note that the blame doesn’t fall solely on Benton; there are opportunities for the team to utilize slants and twists to maximize his athleticism. The Pittsburgh Steelers' secondary is facing significant challenges this season, ranking 25th in the league by allowing 245 passing yards per game. Opponents are completing 69% of their passes against them, placing the Steelers at 24th in that category, and they are struggling to limit passing first downs, averaging only 11 per game, which is good for 18th. The team’s ability to defend against deep passes is even more telling, with a yards-per-completion rate of just 12.9, ranking them at 31st overall. Justin Fields' struggles against the Bills and Sam Darnold's average performance against the 49ers have shown that while the secondary may be challenged, there's potential for improvement. The middle of the field has been particularly vulnerable, as both safeties have struggled to make an impact, with Thornhill facing issues and Clark performing slightly better, but still not living up to expectations. Linebackers must step up, yet the inability to stop the run leaves them susceptible to play fakes and misdirection. If the Steelers want to turn things around, we'll need to see adjustments across the board. Join us as we break down the state of the secondary and discuss what changes might be necessary moving forward! The Pittsburgh Steelers face a critical moment as the struggles continue on the offensive line, overshadowing the immediate need for a solid WR2. While the team has attempted to bolster the receiving corps—Roman Wilson has been disappointing, Scotty Miller isn’t contributing, and Skowronek is mainly a special teamer—the real issue lies in the inefficient pass protection. Frazier has shown potential but isn’t as effective as last season, while Seamalu’s performance is underwhelming, and Fautanu seems to be picking up bad habits. Broderick Jones is raising red flags, and McCormick's technique hasn’t improved, leading to more questions than answers. The run game is just as bleak, averaging 62.5 yards per game (30th in the league) and a mere 3.0 yards per carry, with the team yet to score a rushing touchdown. What’s happening with T.J. Watt this season? Despite his reputation as a defensive powerhouse, he hasn’t recorded a sack in the last six games, marking five sacks over his last 17 outings. Double teams are proving effective against him, but he must find a way to break through. On the flip side, Watt remains a force in the run game, racking up nine tackles and two tackles for loss, showing he can still dominate in that aspect. However, the team's schematics need to adjust to better utilize his talents. There’s been some movement in his positioning, but it’s clear they need to implement more disguised blitzes to create opportunities for him. The Steelers came crashing back down in Week 2 as the offense regressed badly while the defense held steady, creating a frustratingly familiar formula that just won’t cut it in 2025. Aaron Rodgers and Arthur Smith’s unit failed to build on the momentum from Week 1, looking flat and inconsistent at home, while Jalen Ramsey and the defense once again did their part to keep the game within reach.
