And If Rodgers & the Steelers Part Ways..... | Episode 73
Wednesday Oct 08, 2025
Wednesday Oct 08, 2025
The Steelers are poised to seize control of the division with a two-game lead over their rivals. Riding the momentum of two consecutive victories after our early bye week, we have a favorable schedule ahead, facing the Browns, Bengals, and Packers—three matchups ripe for the taking. While we’re on the rise, the competition is struggling. The Ravens’ defense is decimated by injuries, losing key players like Roquan Smith, Kyle Hamilton, Marlon Humphrey, and Nnandi Madubuike, while Lamar Jackson’s absence is crippling their offense. Cincinnati is in turmoil, now relying on its third quarterback after Joe Burrow’s injury, and their O-line is failing to protect, surrendering 15 sacks and ranking dead last in rushing. The Browns appear to have thrown in the towel, trading for Flacco and sporting the 27th-ranked offense, despite a solid defense. The division is falling apart, and the Steelers must capitalize to claim what is rightfully ours! Can the Steelers’ defense be salvaged this season? Currently ranked 28th in total defense, the team faces serious challenges that need to be addressed. While the rushing defense has shown signs of improvement, ranking 19th and allowing 122 yards per game, there’s no room for complacency. To compete effectively, the Steelers must tighten up their performance and force opponents into one-dimensional offenses. Relying on two or more turnovers each week isn’t a sustainable strategy; the defense needs to step up and stop drives consistently. Join us as we dive deep into the issues plaguing the Steelers' defense and discuss what changes are necessary to turn the tide.Could Aaron Rodgers be back with the Steelers in 2026? His performance has been impressive when given time to throw—averaging 196 yards per game with a 68.5% completion rate, 9 touchdowns to just 3 interceptions, and an impressive quarterback rating of 102. While his mobility has waned, he still knows how to manipulate the pocket and find lanes to escape pressure. His strong, accurate arm shines in the quick game, though he hasn't been pushing the ball deep, largely due to play design and limited time. Rodgers is adept at reading defenses, getting in and out of plays effectively, and using cadence and the play clock to our advantage. Plus, he’s clearly enjoying the game and the process. The big question remains: can he lead the Steelers to a playoff win and beyond? Join us as we dive into this intriguing topic!Broderick Jones is in need of the Steelers' support this season. Despite being the 14th pick in the 2023 draft and the team moving up to secure him, he's faced challenges on the field, starting only 19 games at left tackle since 2021. At just 24 years old, he hasn't yet reached his physical prime, and with limited options this season, it’s crucial for the Steelers to invest in his development rather than bench him. On the coaching front, Pat Meyer’s struggles are evident, having been fired twice in his career, and it’s clear that the fundamentals haven't improved under his guidance. The Steelers must adapt their schemes to better support Broderick, leaning into more gap-blocking plays that suit his style, as well as a quick passing game to enhance his performance. With 13 pivotal games ahead, Broderick’s future and potential contract extension hinge on what he can showcase on the field. The big question remains: will the Steelers commit to him regardless of this season's outcome? We ARE...Steelers Almighty!!!__________________________Ways to Support Steelers Almighty: 🛍️ BIG Merch | https://steelersalmightyshop.com/ 🛍️🚨 Become an Almighty! Why The Steelers Are STRATEGICALLY Underutilizing Pat Freiermuth | Episode 72
Wednesday Oct 01, 2025
Wednesday Oct 01, 2025
On the latest episode of Steelers Almighty, we delve into the standout performances of Queen and Wilson against the Vikings, where the duo combined for a remarkable 24 tackles, including 16 solo stops, a sack, and five tackles for loss. Their improved coverage skills showcased their potential, even if they occasionally appeared a step behind in zone coverage. The big question remains: can this level of play be sustained? While it's worth noting that Minnesota was missing some key offensive linemen, the energy and tenacity these linebackers displayed were undeniable. The AFC North is looking downright abysmal, with many considering it the worst division in football after just four games. Cincinnati finds itself at 2-2 and struggling mightily, as Joe Burrow remains sidelined and the team's offensive line crumbles. Their once-dominant offense is now last in the league in yardage, while the defense lingers at 30th. Baltimore, sitting at a dismal 1-3, appears unable to win critical matchups, further deteriorating under the weight of key injuries—including to quarterback Lamar Jackson. Their defense isn't faring any better, ranked 31st overall and last in points allowed at 33 per game. Meanwhile, Cleveland stands at 1-3 after making a much-needed quarterback change, struggling offensively despite boasting the league's best defense and top-rated run D. The offensive line is showing promising signs of improvement, proving to be much more physical in their recent matchup against the Vikings. The unit only allowed four pressures amidst a relentless barrage of blitzes and twists. While the two sacks highlighted protection breakdowns rather than outright physical defeats, it's clear that the line is beginning to find its rhythm. Isaac Seamalu is rounding into form, delivering a strong performance over the last two weeks, while Troy Fautanu showed improvement despite needing to shake off some bad habits. Zach Frazier continued to be rock solid, and Broderick Jones brought solid effort, even if his technique needs refinement. Mason McCormick stood out as the top lineman against Minnesota, showcasing impressive physicality and improved footwork despite some wild hand placement. The coaching staff's decision to utilize more Darnell Washington and Spencer Anderson in their 12 personnel proved effective, enabling the team to run the ball effectively even against defenses that anticipated it. Could Darnell Washington's emergence as a superior blocker make Pat Freiermuth expendable for the Steelers? Standing at 6'7"" and weighing 315 lbs, Washington's size and athleticism give him the edge in run-blocking, aligning perfectly with the Steelers' focus on a strong ground game. On the other hand, Jonnu Smith offers a more dynamic option in the passing game, boasting more athleticism and a rushing touchdown this season, making him a valuable asset for quick plays. When looking at 12 Personnel formations, the combination of Washington and Smith could provide a more physical and versatile offensive strategy than Freiermuth alone. While the need for a solid passing game favors Freiermuth's presence, especially since he contributes significantly when the Steelers are trailing, the timing for a trade may not be right. With the offensive line struggles and the need to accumulate assets rather than deplete them, moving Freiermuth this season doesn't make logical sense.Next season, Freiermuth will be 28, and Smith will be 31, making age and cap implications a factor in future decisions. Trading Freiermuth post-June 1 could save the team $9 million, but let's not overreact after one game. Although a better performance may have sparked new discussions, one game shouldn't dictate our view of Freiermuth’s value to the team.
